ESSAY COMPETITION
We hereby would like to invite you to participate in the essay competition in connection with the International Day of Non-Violence, which will be commemorated on 2nd of October 2023, from 10.00-13.00 hrs in the Peace Palace The Hague.
The program “International Day of Non-Violence” is organized by Stichting Standbeeld Mahatma Gandhi (hereafter: Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Foundation) to celebrate the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi. The purpose of the program is to create a greater awareness about Mahatma Gandhi and his philosophy of Non-Violence for resolving political and social conflicts. The program is supported by the Carnegie Foundation, the Municipality of The Hague and Mrs. Marianne Oort
Essay competition
In line with the UN-resolution concerned, the theme for the essay competition is “Relevance of Non-Violence in Resolving Social and Political Conflicts Today”.
The essay should contain minimum 1.000 and maximum 2.000 words and should be in English.
The deadline for submission of an essay is set on Friday 15th September 2023 – 17.00 hrs.
The result will be announced on 23rd September 2023.
What’s in it for you?
The first winner will receive a cash prize of € 200,-.
The second best will receive € 150,-.
The winner will be asked to present her/his essay for 7-10 minutes during the program on the 2nd of October 2023.
Please take into account that the program “International Day of Non-Violence” is each year addressed by distinguished speakers. Participants in the program include high profile individuals and representatives of institutions and organizations, which have a link to peace & justice for society.
Competing in the essay competition will give you a new exposure and may open up interesting possibilities for you.
