International Day of Non-Violence - 2 October 2023 from 10.00-13.00 hrs
We are delighted to inform you that Stichting Standbeeld Mahatma Gandhi (Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Foundation) will celebrate the International Day of Non-Violence for the 10th time on Monday the 2nd of October 2023, 10.00-13.00 hrs. The program is supported by the City The Hague, The Embassy of India, the Carnegie Foundation and Mrs. Marian Oort.
Gandhi, who helped leading India to independence, has been the inspiration for non-violent movements for civil rights and social change across the world. Throughout his life Gandhi remained committed to his belief in non-violence even under oppressive conditions and in the face of seemingly insurmountable challenges.
According to the (United Nations) General Assembly resolution A/RES/61/271 of 15 June 2007 which established the commemoration, the International Day of Non-Violence is an occasion to “disseminate the message of non-violence, including through education and public awareness”. The resolution reaffirms “the universal relevance of the principle of non-violence” and the desire “to secure a culture of peace, tolerance, understanding and non-violence”.
A registration for this program is mandatory.
No exceptions can be made at the entry.
Therefore, in case you like to be sure of a seat, do please reserve instantly. We will work with first come, first serve.
